Ravana ,  The King of the Asura , Finest devotee of Shiva , A great scholar , Master of the Tantras and the Vedas and King of Kings .


Dasamukha, born to Visravasa and Kaikasi , The story goes that Ravana in order to please his mother had decided to bring the mountain Kailash to Sri Lanka. As he lifted up the mountain, God Shiva was angered by his arrogance and pushed it back down, trapping Ravana. The King of Lanka had torn off one of his own arms and made a musical instrument, ripping out sinews to form the strings. He used the newly invented ravanhattha to sing the praises of Shiva, creating music of such beauty that Shiva wept and forgave him. Ravana The Greatest devotee of the almighty shiva.

The 10 heads of Ravana shows the various faces of a being, the ability to change into any form ,  The different colours in Ravana’s face depicts his different natures (10 different heads with different abilities) , he who is one of the most powerful beings ever to roam the universe.

The Swastik, a symbol of divinity and spirituality it also symbolises surya, the sun bringing prosperity and good luck. 

Sun , the ruler of self . The sun will give off light and bring about life. The sun is one of the luminaries and a star , symbolising self , creativity and power . 

The joined palms represent , “ l bow to you” with respect , devotion and submission  to the lingam (Lord Shiva)

Linga, a votary object that symbolizes the god Shiva and is revered as an emblem of generative power. “Lingam” in Sanskrit text means evidence, proof, god an 

God’s existence

The blue lotus are Flowers that  are auspicious for lord shiva . 

The nine lamps depicts the 9 planets Ravana conquered , hence King of kings.

The Dheepam or light from the lamp depicts, life - sustaining energy,hope,life and strength .
